TI9: Infamous becomes the first South American team to reach top 8 at The International

January 24, 2020

History was made as Infamous became the first South American team to make it to the top eight at The International. Though the mere fact that they could compete at TI9 was somewhat of a miracle after clinching the regional qualifier slot only to watch their org collapse, fans of the ex-Forward Gaming lineup playing under the Newbee banner are bound to be disappointed by the way their team went out of the competition.

Game 1 was a barnburner that only lasted 25 minutes as Newbee couldn’t quite find an answer to the South Americans’ Wraith King.

Though the North Americans did manage to capitalize on some suspect drafting decisions by Infamous in Game 2, with the series finely poised for the decider.

In the end, they’ve let through Wraith King again in the draft, and clearly failed to execute whatever their strategy they had in mind against it failed to work off as Infamous secured their spot in the next round, marking the first time a South American team reaches the top eight at The International.

The South American side will be playing against Team Secret tomorrow.
