MPL Malaysia: Quick Overview
MPL MY, otherwise known as the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia, is the premier esports circuit for MLBB in Malaysia. This league is part of the broader professional MPL ecosystem, including other regions like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore. This is a cohesive effort to promote MLBB esports and provide an official platform for talented players to showcase their skills.
MPL Malaysia has been around since 2017 and was organized by Moonton Games, initially unified with Singapore, known as MPL MYSG. In 2021, the league announced it would branch off into a standalone split for MPL MY, beginning with Season 7. MPL MY has produced two-time champion TODAK as the most successful MPL MY team.
MPL MY's competitive season is split into two bi-annual competitions: February/March and August. Ten teams compete in the event with a $100,000 overall prize pool, maintaining the same competition format for every season.
MPL MY Season: Format
Regular Season
All ten teams compete in a single round-robin format, where all matches are Bo3. The teams will earn points based on their games and results according to the scoring system outlined below:
- 3 points for winning 2-0 games
- 2 points for winning 2-1 games
- 1 point for losing 1-2 games
- 0 points for losing 0-2 games
The top six teams will advance to the MPL MY S14 Playoffs, while the remaining four teams are eliminated.
Playoffs (Exact Date TBD)
Six teams will compete in a hybrid elimination format. The 1st and 2nd seeded teams from the Regular Season begin in the Upper Bracket Semifinals. The 3rd through to 6th placed teams start in the Play-In round.
All Playoff matches are played as a Bo5, except the Grand Final, as a Bo7. The MPL MY S14 champion qualifies for the M6 World Championship in November/December, while the runner-up qualifies for the M6 Wildcard Stage.

MPL MY Season 14: Competing Teams
Unlike MPL Philippines, which has eight teams, ten squads will compete in the MPL Malaysia Season 14 tournament. Some have championship titles under their belts, like Selangor Red Giants, the current defending champions from last season.
