The Dota 2 Lima Major 2023 is an esports event hosted in South America for the first time in history. 18 of the best Dota teams from across the globe will gather together in one place and see sparks fly in a furiously-tense competition of pure mechanical skill and talent. Dota 2 Lima Major Schedule & Format
The 2023 Dota 2 lima major will be split into two stages: The Group Stage, beginning on February 22 to 26, and the Playoffs, held from February 28 until March 5, 2023, where the Lima Major will conclude with the Grand Final.
The Lima Major group stage sees 18 competing teams split evenly into two groups of nine. A round-robin format of exciting best-of-two matches will determine which 12 successful teams advance to the all-important Playoffs at the end of February.
Six of the nine teams from the group stages will earn playoff spots, where they will engage in exciting best-of-three matches. The top four teams automatically progress to the upper bracket, while the fifth and sixth-placed teams will be in the lower bracket. All remaining teams are eliminated from the tournament.
Lima Major Prize Pool
The teams compete to win the largest portion of the $500,000 USD prize pool. The winner will be rewarded with $200,000. Runners-up in second place will get $100,000. The remainder of the prize money is split among the remaining teams who finish between third place and eighth place.
While winning the prize money is a great reward, what the teams really want are the prestigious DPC points, which go towards securing them direct invites to the Dota event of the year, The International
Dota 2 Lima Major Teams
There will be 18 teams competing in the Lima Major. These teams are the best of the best from the DPC's six regional leagues in Eastern Europe, Western Europe, North America, South America, Southeast Asia, and China.
Eastern Europe is bringing three strong teams for the 2023 Lima Major: Team Spirit, Betboom team and Hellraisers.
Western Europe has four strong teams: Entity, Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, and Tundra Esports.
North America have TSM and Shopify Rebellion fighting for their corner. South America will look to emerge victorious on their home soil, with Evil Geniuses and beastcoast representing them.
Competing for Southeast Asia, we have three strong contenders: Talon Esports, Geek Slate and Execration.
Finally, China has four solid teams to represent their region: Team Aster, Knights, and PSG.LGD and EHOME to round up the complete roster.
