Early LoL Patch Notes 14.20: All Champion Buffs, Nerfs, & Changes

As we rapidly approach the end of the year and the League of Legends competitive season, Riot Games is turning their attention towards Season 15 preparation and preseason changes. While the previous patch, 14.19, was an absolute behemoth in terms of item system changes, the upcoming patch, 14.20, is simply working on some housekeeping to tidy up.

There will be straightforward buffs to two popular ADC picks (Aphelios and Caitlyn) and everyone's favorite brother duo, Yasuo and Yone. League patch 14.20 will also see nine champion nerfs hitting the Rift.

Without further ado, let's dive straight into the League of Legends patch notes for 14.20 and see what changes are coming our way!

When is LoL Patch 14.20 Coming Out?

According to the official patch schedule, League of Legends patch 14.20's release date is Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

Riot Games begins the new patch deployment with the Oceanic servers at 10 AM AEST, with ranked and casual matchmaking queues disabled around three hours before the update is made live.

Other major playing regions worldwide will slowly receive League of Legends patch 14.20 on October 9. Once live, the official patch notes will be available in the LoL client for players wanting to read more about the latest changes.

Here are the key patching times for when League of Legends patch 14.20 goes live.

• 5 AM GMT (EU West)
• 3 AM CT (EU North East)
• 3 AM PT (NA)
• 8 AM KR (Korea)

LoL Patch 14.20: What's New?

League of Legends Lead Gameplay Designer Riot Phroxzon has noticed that the first item ADCs gravitate towards is almost always Infinity Edge, leading to uninspiring item builds with Infinity Edge "not really an item players are excited to buy."

To combat this, the dev team is working to make ADC itemization more interesting, with more satisfying options for crit and non-crit builds. They have also increased the gold cost gap to other AD items like The Collector and Yun Tal Wildarrows.

In LoL patch 14.20, armor itemization is also a key point of focus alongside the proc damage values for Liandry's Torment being tweaked for off-tank AP junglers like Shyvana.

It wouldn't be a new League of Legends patch without new skins! Three new Epic skins will land in the Shop in the patch 14.20 cycle to commemorate League of Legends' 15th anniversary.

From October 9 until 28, players can also log into the game daily and participate in the LoL Player Days event to earn the free Ann-Sivir-sary skin. This event also includes free Blue Essence, Orange Essence, Mythic Essence, player icons, and more, so don't miss out!

LoL Patch 14.20: All Champion Changes

All these early patch notes are taken from the LoL Public Beta Environment (PBE) and are therefore only tentative. You can see the new stats coming to Summoner's Rift in bold for clarity.

Aphelios

• Base HP increased from 580 to 600

(Passive) The Hitman and the Seer

• Bonus Attack Damage per rank increased from 4.5/9/13.5/18/22.5/27 to 5/10/15/20/25/30

Caitlyn

• Attack Speed ratio increased from 0.61 to 0.625

(Q) Piltover Peacemaker

• Secondary target damage increased from 50% to 60%

Corki

(Q) Phosphorus Bomb

• Mana cost adjusted from 80 flat to 60/65/70/75/80

(W) Valkyrie

• 150% bonus Attack Damage scaling added

(E) Gatling Gun

• Mana cost adjusted from 50/60/70/80/90 to 50/55/60/65/70

Dr Mundo

(E) Blunt Force Trauma

• Max HP into AD decreased slightly from 2 - 3.4% to 2 - 3%

Jhin

• AD growth per level decreased from 4.7 to 4.4

(R) Curtain Call

• Base damage decreased from 64/154/244 to 64/128/192

Lee Sin

• Base Attack Damage increased from 66 to 69

Mordekaiser

(Q) Obliterate

• Isolation damage bonus decreased from 40/45/50/55/60% to 30/35/40/45/50%

Pantheon

(W) Shield Vault

• Max HP damage increased from 5/5.5/6/6.5/7% to 6/6.5/7/7.5/8%

Poppy

(Passive) Iron Ambassador

• Cooldown increased from 13/10/7 seconds to 16/12/8 seconds

(Q) Hammer Shock

• Monster damage cap increased from 30/60/90/120/150 to 50/80/110/140/170

Riven

(Q) Broken Wings

• Damage increased from 15/35/55/75/95 (+50/55/60/65/70% total AD) to 45/75/105/135/165 (+65/70/75/80/85% bonus AD)

Shyvana

(W) Burnout

• Movement Speed AP scaling decreased from 12% to 10%

(E) Flame Breath

• Ult form ground DPS decreased from 60 - 120 to 40 - 100

(R) Dragon's Descent

• AP ratio decreased from 130% to 80%

Singed

• Armor growth per level decreased from 4.7 to 4.2

Skarner

(Passive) Threads of Vibration

• Max HP damage adjusted from 5 - 11% to 5 - 9%

(E) Ixtal's Impact

• Max HP scaling decreased from 8% to 6%

Tryndamere

• Attack Speed ratio increased from 0.67 to 0.694
• Armor growth per level increased from 4.3 to 4.8

Udyr

(Q) Wilding Claw

• Awakened bonus monster damage decreased from 20 to 15

(E) Blazing Stampede

• Movement speed decreased from 30/37/44/51/58/65% to 25/31/37/43/49/55%

Veigar

(W) Dark Matter

• AP scaling decreased from 70/80/90/100/110 to 60/70/80/90/100

Yasuo

(Q) Steel Tempest

• Crit increased from 80% to 90%

(R) Last Breath

• Bonus armor penetration from critical damage increased from 50% to 60%

Yone

(Q) Mortal Steel

• Crit damage increased from 80% to 90%

LoL Patch 14.20: All Item Changes

There were -literally- hundreds of item nerfs in League patch 14.19. League of Legends patch 14.20 will continue to tweak certain champions and their itemization in preparation for Season 15 in 2025.

As Riot Phroxzon explained, the "item system for melee crit users doesn't feel great currently," so LoL patch 14.20 will give them a slight power injection to tide them over before Season 15, including The Collector getting a net buff.

Fated Ashes

• Monster DPS decreased from 25 to 20

Liandry's Torment

• Monster DPS cap decreased from 50 to 40

Luden's Companion

• Fire damage increased from 60% (+4% AP) to 75% (+5% AP)
• Repeat damage reduced from 50% to 20%
• Max single target damage decreased from 210 (+14% AP) to 150 (+10% AP)

Statik Shiv

• Attack Speed reduced from 40% to 35%

Stormsurge

• Ability Power reduced from 95 to 90
• Squall damage reduced from 150 (+15% AP) to 125 (+10% AP)

The Collector

• Attack Damage decreased from 60 to 50
• Gold cost reduced from 3,400 to 2,950

Thornmail

• Armor decreased from 80 to 75
• Thorns damage decreased from 15 (+15% bonus armor) to 20 (+10% bonus armor)

Yun Tal Wildarrows

• Attack Damage reduced from 65 to 60
• Bleed damage decreased from 70 to 60
• Gold cost reduced from 3,200 to 2,950

This time around, only two League of Legends runes are getting changed: Grasp of the Undying and Sorcery.

(Resolve) Grasp of the Undying

• Heal changed from 3 (+1.2% max HP) to 1.3% max HP
• Max HP per stack changed from 7 (melee)/4 (ranged) to 5 (melee)/ 3 (ranged)

(Sorcery) Nimbus Cloak

• Movement speed increased from 12 - 35% to 14 - 40%
