StarLadder CS:GO Major - New Challengers Stage Round 5 schedule and predictions

August 25, 2019

The final day of the New Challenger Stage is upon us with three best-of-three series to settle who goes on and who goes home from Berlin. It’s safe to say that not many would have predicted this six teams to be in the 2-2 bracket, and the seeding has thrown up some fascinating matchups.

2-2 bracket

AVANGAR vs Syman (12:00 CEST)

It’s a CIS showdown where name recognition and prestige would suggest AVANGAR’s win but performances so far in the event would put Syman Gaming on top. Couple this with the fact that regional rivalries often throw curveballs because the underdogs have more VODs to study, and this is suddenly a fairly close affair, which is reflected by the odds. We’ll take Syman for this based on momentum.

Bet on Syman Gaming @ 2.26

forZe vs DreamEaters (15:15 CEST)

No matter who wins this one, it’s going to be heartbreaking for the other side as they’ve both had their fair share of upsets and impressive performances against better sides on their way to the 2-2 bracket. However, forZe’s losses against the good sides were pretty heavy and the teams they beat haven’t impressed so far in the event or were already eliminated (Grayhound and FURIA) while DreamEaters managed to take out the two highest-rated teams en route to this point, which makes us vouch for the upset here.

Bet on DreamEaters @ 2.91

Vitality vs Grayhound (18:30 CEST)

No one would have expected Vitality to be here after four rounds played, and for what it’s worth, Grayhound’s comeback from the 0-2 bracket was also fairly unlikely. Say what you will about the Frenchmen’s shaky showings in the first three rounds though, we just can’t see them falling short in a best-of-three against Sico and co.

Bet on Vitality @ 1.14

Odd are, of course, subject to change.
