Having previously partnered with One Punch Man and Cowboy Bepop, many beloved Overwatch 2 heroes have been put in the shoes of iconic characters from each pop-culture series.
Next in line for a crossover event in the hero shooter is Hasbro’s Transformers, with four OW2 heroes confirmed (Illari, Reinhardt, Ramattra, and Bastion) to get their own themed cosmetics, emotes, and skins inspired by the iconic Transformers franchise.
The Overwatch 2 x Transformers crossover event will begin on July 9, with no confirmed end date as of yet. Here’s everything we know about OW2 x Transformers, including the four confirmed skins and details on claiming free bonus rewards.
Overwatch 2 x Transformers: Release Date
The Overwatch 2 x Transformers collaboration event will officially go live on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Like all Overwatch 2 updates, we expect the OW2 x Transformers event to begin at 2PM EST / 7PM BST / 8PM CET. Download the OW2 pre-release patch in advance to avoid long queue times!
No end date has been confirmed for the Overwatch 2 x Transformers event. However, we can assume it will follow the pattern of other events and last around three to four weeks, ending on July 30 at the earliest.
Overwatch 2 x Transformers: Shop Skins & Cosmetics
In an epic reveal trailer, Blizzard Entertainment highlighted which heroes will be getting -literally- transformed in the upcoming collaboration event.
These skins will likely be available from the in-game shop, which is purchasable with Overwatch Coins, the premium in-game currency. You’d better top your in-game wallet up before the event drops!

Overwatch 2 x Transformers: Event Challenges & Rewards
Like previous in-game events, the Overwatch 2 x Transformers event will likely feature free Transformers-themed cosmetics and rewards unlocked through gameplay challenges.
Each gameplay challenge may reward players with cosmetics, like a character voice line, emote, weapon charm, player title, or even a possible skin. Winning games will also grant players double progress toward challenge completion alongside Season 11 Battle Pass XP.
At the time of writing, Blizzard Entertainment has yet to confirm if there will be a specific Transformers-themed LTM game mode for the crossover event.
It’s possible that a OW2 x Transformers game mode could be poised as a 1v3 Arcade LTM mode as Autobots vs. Decepticons. Rammattra starred as the villain in the OW2 x Transformers comic, fitting with his character arc. Players may be able to play as Illari, Reinhardt, and Bastion to take him down and restore peace.
