Marking their mark in the esports ecosystem, Moonton's MLBB development league MDL PH is back with a bang with MDL Philippines Season 2, starting on August 29.
Nurturing young talent and working as a feeder series for the MPL PH Season, new and old faces will be back as Mobile Legends continues to expand in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Here's everything fans need to know about MDL Philippines Season 2, including the competition's format, schedule, and all the teams competing!
Like MPL Philippines, MDL PH Season 2 has two stages: the Regular Season and the Playoffs. Instead of MDL PH Season 1, where there were ten teams, 12 teams will compete in Season 2.
There is a unique points system, detailed below. The top eight teams will advance to the playoffs with a hybrid-elimination system.
Long-time Mobile Legends fans may recognize several of the teams on this list, although some rebranding has gone ahead over the summer. With new teams and players joining the fray, MDL PH Season 2 will be electrifying, especially with a $20,000 USD prize pool on the line!
Blacklist Lunatix has undergone a metamorphosis over the summer break. As revealed on their official Facebook page, Blacklist International has partnered with esports organization Team Lunatix. This bold move will hopefully bring back their winning culture to the MDL PH Season 2, as they had modest success in the maiden season.
Defending MDL PH champions Echo Proud aim to maintain their crown as the regular season begins. Their main roster stays consistent with last season, with key players like Outplayed and KurTzy remaining with ECHO Proud.
Omega Neos boasts tons of up-and-coming talent among their ranks, and it's nice to see some new faces joining the professional MLBB esports scene.
For ONIC PH, we have the ONIC Arsenals. Their MDL PH team came 9th last season, so they'll do everything possible to turn their luck around. The iconic yellow hedgehogs' roster has been completely changed aside from Chovyy maintaining his role in Mid.
Previously known as NXPE Tiger Cubs, Minana Archives is another team starting with a clean, revamped slate. Their lineup is almost entirely new, except for SanaaaAR keeping his previous role.
The AP Hornets, previously known as Bren Esports, are breaking out on their own as they have formally ended their partnership with Euphoria Esports to become two teams separately.
The development team for TNC Pro Team, TNCZ4, has released their roster, made up of Click Esports players. Last season, the then-TNC Neo team only won three games, so the only way to go is up!
RSG Philippines' development team, RSG-Ignite, has completely disbanded as they left to go to other teams. As such, RSG PH has now requested the aid of Mistah Esports and some player transfers.
Last season, GameLab established itself as a strong competitor, as they dominated the playoffs to come in an impressive second-place finish. Their team is looking strong for MDL PH Season 2. Can they replicate last season's performance?
The Rex Regun Qeon Kaito team has signed an impressive roster in preparation for MDL Philippines Season 2, including a gold medalist from the MLBB SEA Games!
Breaking out into a league of their own, Euphoria Esports are looking to better their performance in the maiden season with several new additions to their lineup.
Having competed in the IESF World Championship 2022, MHRLK is now trying its luck in MDL Season 2 as one of the non-franchised MPL teams.
